The CSPS is committed to delivering high quality programs, particularly with respect to education, safety, and the delivery of professional treatment to the public on or off the snow.
Education
For decades now, the CSPS has remained at the forefront of the industry with respect to the delivery of quality emergency pre-hospital care. Our National Patroller Education Program maintains the highest standards available. It trains members for the various conditions in which they are required to perform, thoroughly preparing them for almost any situation which may arise on or off the slopes.
For more information about our education programs, see EDUCATION.
Safety & Prevention
Safety and injury prevention have been an integral part of our services for many years. Some may still remember our earliest initiatives. Many are still active today:
- The “Yeti” cartoon by famed cartoonist Ben Wicks to promote safety.
- The national binding test program.
- The “Fitness for Fun” booklet; pre-season conditioning to prevent accidents.
- The Junior Safety Program, still creating safe young skiers across Canada.
And last but not least,
- The Skiers’ Responsibility Code (alpine and nordic).
For more information about our current safety initiatives, see SAFETY.
Four Season Events
Yes, the Canadian Ski Patrol System was initially created to provide first aid services on ski hills, and delivering this valued service is still our core focus. Over the past two decades, however, CSPS services have extended beyond the ski hill to offer first aid/medical support, and medical team coordination for a long list of sporting events for organizations.
For more information about event coverage, see FOUR SEASON EVENTS.
